Community Connections

Community Connections aims to build relationships of support among neighbours and community members – particularly those who are at risk of social exclusion – while building capacity to become more self-sufficient.

Community Connections programming is supported by Family & Community Support Services.

Fresh Food Basket

Fresh Food Basket is a weekly drop-in food access program for anyone having difficulty accessing the food that they need for a healthy life. Each week on Mondays from 4-6pm, community members can stop in at HSCA to select a small bag of food (mostly fresh produce) from our market style program. Food is offered for free in this program and is intended to support community members who are facing financial barriers to accessing fresh food. No proof of income required.

ESL Drop In Club

Meets every Tuesday evening from 7:15 to 9:00 p.m. Practice and improve your English speaking and listening skills in a free, informal, conversation-based club. Class size is limited. If you are a new participant please register at the email below prior to dropping in. We welcome residents of the Hillhurst Sunnyside community and residents of the rest of Calgary if space is available. All are warmly welcomed. Bring a friend, or make a new one.

Neighbour Night

Join us for FREE dinner, childminding, and connecting with your neighbours! Every Thursday from 6-8pm, we begin by sharing a healthy, vegetarian meal. After dinner, the kids are entertained by a qualified team of childminding volunteers while the adults participate in an activity or craft.

Do you have a talent you would like to share in a welcoming, community setting? We are always welcome to new ideas and facilitators!
