Outreach Services

Outreach services are provided to residents who may be experiencing difficulties or barriers in accessing community services. Issues may include accessing or maintaining housing, financial stresses, accessing food or clothing, single parenting concerns, or family transitions. Outreach services can provide referrals, short-term support and problem solving to address such life issues.

There are a few steps in the outreach process. First, community residents in need of support are identified. Residents may call or visit personally, be referred by friends or family, or be recommended by other service professionals. Needs and issues are then discussed with residents, usually through a home visit. Together, the resident and the Community Outreach Coordinator will set goals in order to work toward what is most important. Residents are linked to community resources as needed. Babysitting Coop

The Babysitting Coop is up and running! We currently have 7 very keen parents with children ranging from 4 months to 27 months, and up to 3 1/2 years old. We will be having a gathering at the Community Centre in early August so if you are interested in finding out more about the Babysitting Coop, please call Elizabeth at 283-0554, ext. 225, or email her at the link at the bottom of this page. Family Resource Room

The above information about the Community Kitchen and the Good Food Box programs provides food for the body but how about food for the mind? There is a small library available for community use and it is a well-kept secret! Come over and browse through the books, magazines, brochures, and resource lists. You may borrow these resources for up to three weeks. Call Elizabeth at 283-0554, (Ext. 225) for more information.
